What to Wear in the Float Tank?

This week we answer one the most frequently asked questions we receive @NOLAFloat.

To answer the question simply: nothing!

Now let’s take a look at WHY.

Float tanks are designed to restrict sensory inputs to your body.

No sight, no sound, you don’t feel your body weight or your body temperature..and at a certain point (about 10-15 mins into your first float) you start melting!

OK, not physically dissolving, but you get the point.

The line between where your skin ends and the water begins becomes unrecognizable.Your body reaches an equilibrium temperature where your brain can no longer tell the difference between your body and the water in the tank.

Because of this uniquely comforting out-of-body effect, wearing a swimsuit in a float tank can be counter-productive since you would feel the suit pressing against the line of your body.

This produces the benefits that makes floating such a great tool for meditation* stress management.

Due to age, muscle tightness, sore backs, or injuries, many people can feel restricted by their own bodies.

NOLA Float Tanks allows clients to transcend these limits, if only for an hour at a time.

If you are considering floating: chances are you looked up the process…but you may still have a few lingering questions about the experience.

We welcome your feedback and would love to give you a chance to test the waters!
